CFC Players Sign with Area Colleges
Congratulations to Brittany O'Dell, Aaron Smith and Jason Coon! All three CFC players have sighned on to play with area colleges. Brittany signed with Eastern Illinois University, Aaron signed with Heartland Junior College and Jason signed with Bradley University.
Brittany and Aaron, both goalkeepers, trained under the direction of Mark Hansen, former EIU Men's Soccer goalkeeper, CFC goalkeeping coach and current U14B coach. "Having two goalkeepers sign to further their playing careers at the college level speaks volumes to the growth of the club," Hansen said. "With Aaron and Brittany joining Andrew Bower (Rose Hulman), the club has produced three goalkeepers in the last three years that have gone on to play collegiately."
Together with Jason, all three have had the advantage of further developing their soccer skills by learning from CFC's coaching staff and programming.
Dino Raso, CFC Director of Coaching and EIU Men's Soccer Assistant Coach, says that the coaching and mentoring players receive while playing for CFC is second to none. "Having three players sign this year is a testament to the development we have seen at the club level and it is a credit to the coaches who have helped further our players' progress," Raso said. "We now have at least three Division 1 players and five others playing at the college level, which helps validate that our current training philosophy will continue to create college soccer players; and athletes like Jason, Brittany and Aaron can now serve as role models for our current CFC players."
